Position: Director of Human Resources
Location: Newfoundland & Labrador (with travel)
Reports To: Canadian Adventure Charters Board of Directors
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Human Resources, you will hold a pivotal leadership role within CAC, driving our talent and organizational strategies in alignment with our ambitious mission. Your key responsibilities include:
Recruitment & Talent Management: Oversee recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding for national and international positions. Manage employment contracts and employee lifecycle transitions.
Strategic Portfolio Development: Shape and manage CAC’s portfolio of public, private, and nonprofit partnerships in the marine industry.
Global HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with Canadian and international labor laws while implementing best practices across diverse geographic locations.
Cultural Stewardship: Develop and nurture a positive organizational culture, reinforcing CAC’s brand image and core values.
Leadership Collaboration: Work closely with senior executives to align human resources strategies with business goals, ensuring seamless operations and team synergy.
Expeditionary HR Expertise: Lead initiatives tailored to the unique demands of life aboard research expedition vessels and polar exploration teams.
Sustainability & Innovation: Champion green and blue economic strategies, integrating them into
CAC’s human resources framework.
To excel in this role, you must demonstrate:
Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a related field.
Certifications: HR certifications (e.g., a PHR, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM–CP) are essential.
Marine Sector Expertise: A minimum of 2 years working and living aboard research or charter vessels in extreme environments.
Passion for Exploration: A genuine enthusiasm for marine biology, polar regions, adventure, and sustainability.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead large–scale HR programs with a focus on talent development and organizational effectiveness.
