Sarah Holma serves as Director of Core Programs and Cultural Heritage with Canadian Adventure Charters, where she brings together her lifelong interests in people, place, history, education, and exploration. In this role, she helps shape the organization’s archaeology, anthropology, expedition education, Indigenous engagement, and maritime heritage programming, creating experiences that invite guests to understand the deeper stories of the places they encounter.

Sarah is originally from British Columbia’s northern coast and grew up between Prince Rupert and Terrace, along the lower Skeena River in the traditional territory of the Ts’msyen people and near the Kitselas and Kitsumkalum communities. Growing up where the river meets the coast gave her an early appreciation for the ways landscape, culture, history, and community are woven together.

She completed her archaeological field training in 2003 and later earned both her Bachelor (2009) and Master (2012) of Arts from the University of British Columbia. Sarah has also completed her doctoral dissertation at Leiden University and defends her PhD in the fall of 2026.

For more than fifteen years, Sarah has taught and developed curriculum in colleges, universities, adult education programs, community organizations, and international expedition settings. She has created courses, workshops, lecture series, assessments, and public programs in archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage, tourism, academic writing, research methods, and cross-cultural education.

Sarah especially enjoys taking complex questions and turning them into ideas and solutions that feel clear, useful, and accessible. Whether she is teaching in a classroom, speaking aboard a ship, or developing a new heritage program, she brings warmth, curiosity, and a genuine respect for the people and communities whose stories are being shared.

As an international enrichment lecturer, Sarah loves helping audiences see familiar places in new ways. Her work is grounded in careful scholarship, thoughtful collaboration, cultural respect, and the belief that learning is most powerful when it creates a meaningful connection between people, ideas, and place.
