A dedicated naturalist with a PhD. In Marine Biology, Jack has traveled the entire planet while contributing his knowledge to those he guides. His scientific career began in Galapagos, as naturalist for seven years before adventuring to Antarctica, the Geographic North Pole, and throughout all the world’s oceans. His specialty, ichthyology, the study of fish, allowed him to publish the most definitive text ever written about the undersea world of one of the most beloved island archipelagos on our planet. Sponsored by the LA County Museum of Natural History, “The Fishes of the Galapagos” remains the definitive text on the subject.

Jack has published numerous scientific papers and he has lectured on marine science, oceanography and biodiversity aboard ships and private yachts around the world. Dr. Grove’s home is in the Florida Keys, where he iscompleting the second edition of the book, coauthored by ichthyologists Douglas J. Long, and Benjamin Victor. The new book, “Galapagos Fishes From the Shore to the Abyss and From Darwin to DNA”, will be released open access, within the year.

Jack is a dive master and a Founder of the highly recognized Zegrahm Expeditions which took clients to areas of great biodiversity aboard ships for 25 years with a goal to educate and inspire. Jack currently runs The Eastern Pacific Corridor Alliance, dedicated to keeping that region of the ocean well-monitored and protected.
