Anna Zuckerman-Vdovenko
Anna Zuckerman-Vdovenko is an Expedition Sales and Marketing Consultant and Professional Photographer. Anna has worked aboard ships to the polar regions for over 16 years as a professional photographer, photography educator, an Onboard Expedition Sales Team Leader, and Expedition Coordinator. Born in California, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree at Princeton University. After 15 years at sea, making countless voyages to Antarctica, the Geographic North Pole by Nuclear Icebreaker, the Northeast and Northwest Passage, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Polar Science at Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge University. Her dissertation focused on Wrangel Island in the Russian Arctic. She researched the interesting political conflicts visited upon this remote place and gave recommendations that this precious region, a significant denning ground for polar bears, be conferred as a World Heritage Site. Her research was helpful in the thinking process for some of the scientists who advocated successfully that Wrangel achieve this protective status 6 years later in 2004. Anna proudly served as a Board member for the Friends of South Georgia Island, a non-profit that is dedicated to protect and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, restore the ecological balance and return it to the incredibly rich and biodiverse island it once was.
